The River Severn at Coalport in Shropshire

A short drive along the River Severn from Ironbridge will take you to Coalport. There you can find the Tar Tunnel and the China Museum along with a some good pubs and lovely walks.

Coalport is a 20 minute drive from The Stanage Bed and Breakfast in Telford and a great place to visit.

Little Wenlock

We had a lovely walk from The Stanage this morning to Little Wenlock. The walk is just under 2 miles in each direction and on a mild New Years Day it was just the job.

It was good to be able to walk and not slide along the lanes as we had been doing recently. Still a few piles of snow on the roadside and in the fields.

We walked as far as Little Wenlock Village Hall before tuning for home. Little Wenlock is one of the highest villages in Shropshire and there are some spectacular viwes on a good day over towards Wenlock Edge and The Church Stretton hills. Today was not a good day for views.

Back home to The Stanage for lunch and put our feet up for a while.

We often have guests staying at The Stanage Bed and Breakfast in Telford who are visiting Little Wenlock Village Hall for functions, dancing classes and weddings.

Christmas Day along the Shropshire Union Canal

WINTER WONDERLAND IN MARKET DRAYTON

Christmas Day and we decided to stay on flat ground with all the snow in Shropshire. A beautiful sunny day so we drove from The Stanage in Telford to Market Drayton and had an enchanting, and very cold walk along the Shropshire Union canal.

It was lovely to see so many people and dogs enjoying the snow and the warming sun. Back to the car for a welcomed flask of coffee and mince pies before the journey home.

Benthall Edge

Benthall Edge in Autumn

Each time we venture out for a walk in this beautiful county of Shropshire there are more hidden gems to find.

Yesterday we walked around Benthall Hall and found this lovely avenue of mature trees to stroll among and savour.

A short drive down to Ironbridge after for coffee then back to The Stanage.

Golden days in Weston Park

A beautiful sunny afternoon in Weston Park, Shropshire today and later a spectacular bonfire and firework display.

Hundreds of families enjoyed a grand afternoon and evening with funfair and fireworks. The weather was kind and not too chilly.

Wonderful homemade cupcakes from ‘The Little Round Cake Company’. Thank you they were scrumptious. We went back for more. www.thelittleroundcakecompany.co.uk

Snowdrops at Attingham Park

The snowdrops are already poking their heads out in our garden at The Stanage and I am sure that once again Attingham Park will be covered in them.

National Trust Snowdrop walks start in February.

2011

Have just reminded myself that the snowdrops will soon be out and I will have to visit Attingham Park again to see this most wonderful sight.

2010

I spent the morning with a friend walking through the beautiful woodland walks at Attingham Park today. A carpet of snowdrops everywhere we looked.

Attingham Park is owned by The National Trust and is a 20 minute drive from The Stanage B & B inTelford.

A visit to the coffee shop for carrot cake is a must before leaving.

Benthall Hall, Broseley

We found this lovely National Trust property on a windy afternoon in December. Although it was closed to the public it was a still worth the short drive from The Stanage to walk along the footpath in front and photograph the house and gardens.
