We left The Stanage Bed and Breakfast in Telford on Saturday in heavy rain and drove along the A5 towards Wrexham. The sun came out and we had a fantastic day exploring two National Trust properties.

The first we went to was Erdigg just south of Wrexham and just over the hour to get there by car.

The gardens at Erdigg are beautiful, even in winter, and the history of the house really fasinating. Great restaurant and shop.

We then drove to Chirk Castle, which is on the way home to Teford, and had a lovely time exploring the grounds and snowdrop walk.

Both castle and house were closed so another visit later in the year is a must. Looking forward to a re visit already.

We joined The National Trust this week and our first visit, as members, was to the beautiful grounds of nearby Attingham Park.

Owing to the severe winter the snowdrops will be late this year. It looks like we will have to visit in a couple of weeks time to see the carpets of white flowers that the park is famous for.

Lovely to see so many people and dogs enjoying the open air and wonders of nature.

Morning coffee and carrot cake much appreciated after a long walk around the park

It takes about 20 minutes to drive from The Stanage Bed and Breakfast in Telford to Attingham Park.

2012

The snowdrops are already poking their heads out in our garden at The Stanage and I am sure that once again Attingham Park will be covered in them.

National Trust Snowdrop walks start in February.

2011

Have just reminded myself that the snowdrops will soon be out and I will have to visit Attingham Park again to see this most wonderful sight.

2010

I spent the morning with a friend walking through the beautiful woodland walks at Attingham Park today. A carpet of snowdrops everywhere we looked.

A carpet of snowdrops

Attingham Park is owned by The National Trust and is a 20 minute drive from The Stanage B & B inTelford.

A visit to the coffee shop for carrot cake is a must before leaving.
