Many of you are no doubt watching the Channel 4 programme on a Thursday evening about the construction of a Roman Villa at Wroxeter in Shropshire.

‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’

I was amazed the first time I went to Wroxeter, to see what was the Roman city of Viroconium, that it had been the 4th largest settlement in Roman Britain.

It is fasinating on its own but now with the Roman Villa it will certainly be a very special day out. Thank you English Heritage.

Wroxeter is approximately a 20 minute drive from The Stanage B & B and is close to Attingham Park on the way to Shrewsbury.

The RomanVilla is now open to the public and well worth a visit.
