Golden days in Weston Park

A beautiful sunny afternoon in Weston Park, Shropshire today and later a spectacular bonfire and firework display.

Hundreds of families enjoyed a grand afternoon and evening with funfair and fireworks. The weather was kind and not too chilly.

Wonderful homemade cupcakes from ‘The Little Round Cake Company’. Thank you they were scrumptious. We went back for more. www.thelittleroundcakecompany.co.uk

Most of our guides take in the beautiful Ironbridge Gorge and give information on parking, pubs and local places of interest. We can even sort you out a packed lunch to take if you wish. Let us know that when booking if possible.

Combine a walk with one of the Ironbridge Museums or visit Benthall Hall (National Trust).

The snowdrops are already poking their heads out in our garden at The Stanage and I am sure that once again Attingham Park will be covered in them.

National Trust Snowdrop walks start in February.

2011

Have just reminded myself that the snowdrops will soon be out and I will have to visit Attingham Park again to see this most wonderful sight.

2010

I spent the morning with a friend walking through the beautiful woodland walks at Attingham Park today. A carpet of snowdrops everywhere we looked.

Attingham Park is owned by The National Trust and is a 20 minute drive from The Stanage B & B inTelford.

A visit to the coffee shop for carrot cake is a must before leaving.

A warm welcome each morning

With the weather continuing to be very cold there is nothing nicer than to come down to breakfast at The Stanage, Telford and sit by a roaring log fire.

We have a log fire each morning through the winter months and most guests find it hard to leave after eating their breakfast.

If you hanker to sit by an open fire while eating a Shropshire breakfast you now know where to come and stay.

Autum steps

Lovely colours and beautiful sunshine captured at the weekend in our garden.

The leaves may be falling however the bees continue to fly with the beautiful warm sunshine. Geraniums planted earlier in the year are spectacular pinks and reds giving a warm glow to the garden.

: New colour for the front door at The Stanage

We decided on a change of colour. Gone from “Stanage blue” to the new and brighter “Stanage red!”

Just have to paint the gates to match. Maybe later.

I remember reading that having a red purse was lucky, hope it also applies to front doors.

Regular visitors to The Stanage

Each day we fill the bird feeders with nuts and fat balls and have attracted many birds to the garden. These include Robins, Sparrows, Magpies, the Lesser spotted woodpecker, Mistle thrush, Song thrush, Blackbird, Stonechat, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Nuthatch, Wren, Great tit, Blue tit, Collared dove, Pigeon and Crow. No doubt some more that we have not recognised.

However two of our favourite guests are a family of Dormice that live in the Rhododendron bush and a Red-legged partridge that calls each day for seed. He has trained my mother to put out a handful on the centre lawn each day for his breakfast. It really is Bed and Breakfast in Telford at The Stanage.
