Road Closures

There will be road closures in each area for one or two hours before and less than an hour after:

• Ironbridge: The Wharfage and The Bridge (The Ironbridge Park & Ride will be operational)

• Telford Town Centre: a rolling road closure
• Newport: High Street

Incline Lift, Blists Hill

After visiting CORE at The Museum of Iron we drove over to

Blists Hill and soaked up the sunshine ,while enjoying fish and chips, sat on the bank of the canal. We had help from the ducks and the huge fish swimming in the canal with the chips.

Always a good place to visit and perfect with the great weather.

There are two tiny cottages at Blists Hill that are both adorable and really make you realize how families lived then.One is Shelton Tollhouse

The Ironbridge, Shropshire

Work has just started on a new Park and Ride for Ironbridge and plans to be completed by early June. The site is at Jiggers Bank just 2 miles from The Stanage B & B and will take people right into the heart of the Ironbridge Gorge.

Buses will run every 12 minutes to Ironbridge where you will be able to catch the Gorge Connect service  (runs from April) and get to other locations around The World Heritage Site or just walk and enjoy your time in the beautiful Gorge.

Other buses will run  hourly to Much Wenlock, the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games.

Buses will run from June until October each year.

With all the lovely rain today the flowers are looking beautiful and the bees are  very active  now the sun is out.

We filmed some bees gathering nectar in the peonies and hope you will be able to hear them buzzing and listen for the song birds in the background. Click on the link above.

Rodneys Pillar, Criggion, Wales

Yesterday we at last managed to get to Rodneys Pillar. Each time we drive past this impressive range of hills with the monument on top, we say ‘must get up there soon’. Now we have and the walk of at least an hour each way, and the view were well worth the effort.

Very windy and the rain stayed away. Parked the car in the Breidden Forestry Commission car park and had our picnic on the grass.

We set off from The Stanage B and B in Telford and the drive took about 45 minutes.

The afternoon was spent in Welshpool and we really enjoyed it. Gem of a market.
