Woodland walk at Attingham Park

I spent the morning with a friend walking through the beautiful woodland walks at Attingham Park today. A carpet of snowdrops everywhere we looked.

Attingham Park is owned by The National Trust and is a 20 minute drive from The Stanage B & B inTelford.

A visit to the coffee shop for carrot cake is a must before leaving.

We found this lovely National Trust property on a windy afternoon in December. Although it was closed to the public it was a still worth the short drive from The Stanage to walk along the footpath in front and photograph the house and gardens.

A warm welcome each morning

With the weather continuing to be very cold there is nothing nicer than to come down to breakfast at The Stanage, Telford and sit by a roaring log fire.

We have a log fire each morning through the winter months and most guests find it hard to leave after eating their breakfast.

If you hanker to sit by an open fire while eating a Shropshire breakfast you now know where to come and stay.

Blists Hill Visitor Centre

Visitor centre and cafe

Blists Hill the Victorian town museum in Ironbridge now has a new visitor centre that opened recently.

Images of workers in the foundry and coal mines are projected onto the walls bringing it all to life.

If you have not been for some time it will be well worth a visit to walk along the newly opened Canal Street and visit all the

other new improvements that have been finished this year. A great family day out.

BBC Winner in Much Wenlock

The winner of the BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming award for ‘Best Local Food Retailer’ for 2009 is A.Ryan and Son in Much Wenlock. I am pleased to tell you that all the sausages and bacon used at The Stanage B & B come from that very butcher.

Not only do they supply us with vital breakfast ingredients but we regularly buy their amazingly good ‘venison in red wine pie’. Just see the queue outside each day to discover that people come from far and wide to shop. Best advert you could hope for.

Congratulations to Paddy and his team from all at The Stanage.

Lawley Village Stores official opening

Lawley Village Store is open for business

Saturday the 10th of October saw the newly refurbished Premier store opening in Lawley Village. The new owners have made a wonderful start and we sincerely hope that business continues to be brisk for them.

Lawley Village Stores are open 7 days a week

Monday to Friday 7am-8pm

Saturday and Sunday 8a.-8pm

The store sells newspapers, sweets, groceries and has an off-licence as well and is just around the corner from The Stanage.

Autum steps

Lovely colours and beautiful sunshine captured at the weekend in our garden.

The Stanage with Autumn colours

The leaves may be falling however the bees continue to fly with the beautiful warm sunshine. Geraniums planted earlier in the year are spectacular pinks and reds giving a warm glow to the garden.
